What is Social Networking

search engine marketing

Social Networking has fast become the most important online business tool. Gone are the days of web pages being solely a source of information; interactive is the way forward.

New technology has made way for a 2-way communication link with potential customers not only via the home page of your business but an array of social networking sites that have sprung up in recent years and continue to do so. The growth of such sites has a phenomenal reach that is invaluable in terms of global marketing and advertising possibilities.

MySpace revolutionized the music industry and other companies followed suit but broadened their limits therefore making it attractive for commerce as well as personal networking.

Facebook is the most notable successor to MySpace with its global internet users surpassing MySpace midway through 2008. Twitter is now hot on the heels of MySpace with its rise taking off at the start of 2009 with its unique take on the scene.

There’s an estimated 73,323,054 visits per day to facebook,  13,076,730 to MySpace and Twitter has 12,321,752.

Around 22% of global internet users visit facebook.com every day! Twitter is considerably less but the site gains much attention from the media so that kind of press is priceless.

When I was introduced to Twitter, I just couldn,t beleive it. My recipes for African Cous Cous were about to be sent all over the planet at the same moment... to millions. Just who could have imagined this could happen so quickly.
